Words from a jail: Baker College students share King's message (Gospel music)
It's a rhyme that every school-age child has heard before: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." However, that well-known saying took on a different meaning for Thomas Hansen of Montague as he studied the writings of Martin Luther King Jr.
The Holmen Area Civic and Commerce Association will host the 18th annual Yes, Holmen business and community expo on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Holmen High School gym, commons and Trygve Mathison Fine Arts Center.
It was just a box. Cardboard. Moldy from sitting for decades in an Atlanta basement. Inside, though, lay 240 folders, each containing the sermons and spiritual reflections of one of the most important Americans in the 20th century: Martin Luther King Jr.
Accord Ministries, Inc., will present Of One Accord and special guests Jonathan and Wendy Baker in concert Saturday at North Mesquite Baptist Church in Mesquite.
If alive today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would be 78 years old. For the first time this year, his four children will observe his birthday without both parents.
